The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been one of the best-selling compact sedans in India ever since the first model was launched back in 2008. The current third-generation model dropped the Swift moniker when it was launched in 2017. It is an all-new model that is based on the Heartect modular platform that also underpins the current generation Swift. The current Dzire recently had its mid-life facelift which updated the design and added a few new features. And we can see it has met a positive response when you glance over the sales figures.
Maruti Delivers 4 Cars Every Minute Last Month, Thanks to Swift, Baleno, Dzire
For the month of November 2020, the Maruti Dzire sold 13,536 units which is a dip of 23.35 % as it sold 17,659 units the last year. But such is the dominance of the Dzire in the sub 4-metre compact sedan segment that it still outsold the next highest seller by 3 times. The Honda Amaze came in second place selling 4,706 units in the same period, which is actually a YoY growth of 43.21%. Still, it was nowhere close to the number of the Dzire, and other competitors like the Hyundai Aura or the Tata Tigor were even worse.
The 2020 Maruti Dzire got a facelift with the new one-piece grille, air dam, and number place replacing the old one. The fog lamps have been redesigned while you get new dual-tone alloy wheels. Overall it’s not a drastic change, just enough to freshen up the car. Over to the interior, the Dzire gets new features too in the form of Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and hill-hold control with the AMT variants. Other new features include cruise control and electronically foldable ORVMs. It also gets a new 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display between the analogue dials in the instrument cluster, while the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system has been updated too. Maruti is also offering a new finish for the wooden elements in the cabin. The Dzire continues to offer LED projector headlamps, rear AC vents, push-button engine start, and auto AC.
