The beginning of 2019 will mark the introduction of revised prices of various models in the India market. Starting 10 January 2019, the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and the Alto K10 have become significantly costlier. The Alto range now gets up to Rs 10,000 dearer and starts at Rs 2.62 lakh. The Alto is Maruti Suzuki’s cash cow in the entry-level market. In fact, in 2018, it was the second highest selling model in Maruti Suzuki’s product line-up. In the last month of 2018, it has become the number one model in sales volume with a registered dealer dispatch of 25,121 units. When compared with the sales performance in 2017, the hatchback has reported a 23 per cent growth.
The Alto K10 will be priced at Rs 3.38 Lakh from now on
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is powered by a 0.8-litre engine that makes a maximum power of 47 PS and a peak torque of 69 Nm. This unit is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Even though the power is not so impressive, the claimed mileage of 24.7 kmpl is a big USP of the small car.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 runs on a more powerful unit, which is the 1.0-litre K-Series engine. This motor is good for 68PS and 90Nm. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The next generation is reported to be in the works and might be showcased for the first time at the 2020 Auto Expo.
