This year is likely to be a dynamic year for MG Motors. Initially, the car marker has recently announced the official name for their very first car model, which is the MG Hector. This new premium 5-seater SUV is set to launch around mid-2019.
The car is expected to take on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, the Jeep Compass and also the newly-launched Tata Harrier. The car is produced locally at Halol plant in Gujarat.

The official specification of the MG Hector SUV has not yet been revealed. However, it is expected to be available in both petrol and diesel engine options along with an automatic gearbox.

Apart from this highlight, MG also confirmed to launch the next car this year. The upcoming model is said to be an electric SUV. Although MG has not revealed the details of the car, it is expected to be the MG EZS which was introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China previously.

To be specific, the MG EZS is a pure-electric vehicle using an upfront mounted the electric motor to generate the power. The motor can churn out 150PS and 350Nm of torque. The electric range is claimed to deliver 428km. Remarkably, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 50kmph within only 3.1 seconds. The battery only takes around 30 minutes to charge up to 80% thanks to the fast charging source.

In case MG brings the MG EZS to the Indian market, it will have to pit against the upcoming Hyundai Kona electric SUV launched the second half of 2019. The expected price is about Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
