Recent reports suggest that Mahindra & Mahindra has plans to reveal the all-new Thar on 15th August 2020. The upcoming Mahindra SUV is likely to be unveiled via a live webcast on Thar’s official website. On the revealing date, the carmaker will not unveil the bookings, test drives and lunch/delivery details of the all-new Mahindra Thar. One can expect the SUV to be launched during the upcoming festive season, around October and November. The all-new Mahindra Thar has been spotted several times while getting tested on the Indian roads. The spy pictures of the car have revealed a lot of design and cabin details of the SUV. The upcoming Mahindra Thar will be based on the new Gen3 chassis.

The same chassis also underpins the Scorpio and the TUV300. Earlier, reports suggest that trail production of the all-new model has already been initiated. While the old-gen Thar was designed and developed for the off-road enthusiast, the all-new model will be more like an everyday car. The SUV will come loaded with features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a new instrument cluster with colour MID and reverse parking camera. The all-new Mahindra Thar will be offered with multiple engine-transmission options. The SUV will derive power from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor that produces 187bhp of peak power and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit, which puts out 140bhp of power output.

The engines will come mated to a 6-speed MT or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive trims will be on offer. Once launched, it’ll rival with the likes of upcoming Force Gurkha and 5-door Suzuki Jimny. The new-gen Mahindra Thar will get factory-fitted hard-top model, the forward-facing second row of seats and so on. Moreover, the SUV will come loaded with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat-belt reminder, speed alert system and much more.
