In late last month, Renault India created quite a hype amongst the Indian auto enthusiasts with the ultra-modular Renault Triber, in an effort to revive its sales volume when the festive season kicks in. However, it is undeniable that the French manufacturer needs another model to spruce up the company’s dwindling sales performance in recent months, which would come in the form of the Renault Kwid facelift.
The acclaimed Renault Kwid is all set to take back the sales by an updated version in the coming months.
Currently, Renault is gearing up for the launch of the Kwid facelift, which is, in fact, by far the hatchback’s first major upgrade as far as the exterior goes. Recently, the upcoming Renault Kwid has been spotted with a new interior, telling us that the car will more likely to borrow speedo console and infotainment system of the Triber MPV.
The facelifted Kwid has been spotted on test various times ahead of its launch.
Visually, the new Kwid is expected to welcome an evolutionary styling revision that takes the huge inspiration from the Kwid EV, also known as the Renault K-ZE in the Chinese market. The new headlamps are placed on the front bumper while the eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs are sitting on top of it.
The front bumper is redesigned with horizontal slats. The tail lamps are mounted with C-shaped LED inserts, adding to the sportiness and aggression of the model.

The upcoming Kwid facelift will get centre console and infotainment as seen in the Renault Triber.
The interior of the new Kwid delivers a more upmarket feel thanks to the presence of a new instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system as found in the Triber. It is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth. Other than that, it is doubled up as a display for reversing guidelines. On the other hand, the speedo console of the updated Kwid is also inspired by that of the Triber, albeit having different AC vents design. That said, as the competition is looked to be increased by the arrivals of the Maruti S-Presso or the upcoming Tata H2X concept-based micro SUV, Renault is trying hard to make the Kwid’s range fresher than ever.
Powering the 2020 Renault Kwid will be the same 0.8-litre petrol and 1.0-litre petrol engines but in the BSVI forms. The smaller motor can produce 54 PS of max power and 72 Nm of peak torque while the latter belts out 68 PS and 91 Nm of torque. All the mill is mated to a five-speed MT as standard along with a five-speed AMT for the 1.0-litre model. Prices of the new Kwid is estimated to sit at around Rs 2.9 – 5 Lakh (ex-showroom).
