The BS6 Skoda Rapid has been showcased at Auto Expo 2020 with a new 1.0-litre three-cyl turbo petrol motor which replaces both of its current gasoline- and oil-burners.

Having been present in the Indian auto market for almost a decade now, the Skoda Rapid highly needs a new generation with some serious upgrades. However, this sedan’s fans still need to wait for some time more for a new generation to come.

For the time being, the Czech automaker has just upgraded the sedan’s engine to comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission standards, which will lengthen the lifespan of the current-gen Rapid to a certain degree. The BS6 version of the Skoda Rapid has made its debut at Auto Expo 2020.

The most remarkable alteration to the BS6 Skoda Rapid is the introduction of the new 1.0-litre three-cyl TSI turbo gasoline burner which replace all the outgoing motors. The new motor can deliver a maximum power of 110 HP. A DCT unit is expected to implement the transmission duties on the new Rapid.

Two versions of the Skoda Rapid have been unveiled: the Monte Carlo and the Matte Concept, which are distinguished mainly by numerous aesthetic features. The Rapid Monte Carlo is a variant which is already available on the previous Rapid but it runs on newly designed alloy rims. The Matte Concept, in the meanwhile, comes with a matte black paint scheme with contrasting red highlights and newly designed black alloy wheels. The BS6 Skoda Rapid is also claimed to be equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system but its size remains unknown.

The BS6 Skoda Rapid is expected to be priced at a slightly higher range than the current model which is priced from INR 8.81 lakh to INR 12.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new sedan is slated for launch in April this year and will compete against the updated Hyundai Verna, the new Honda City, the petrol-only Maruti Ciaz and VW Vento.
