Ssangyong E100, the first electric SUV from Mahindra-owned South Korean carmaker, has been teased ahead of its debut. As per the teaser image, the E100 bears a strong resemblance to the eXUV100 concept which made its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The overall shape and the sharp edges are borrowed from the Mahindra EV concept but the front has more sporty and modern styling components. According to the teaser, the E100 front comes with thinner headlights with integrated LED DRLs which flank an inclined shut-off grille accommodating the SsangYoung logo.

Moreover, the horizontally arranged fog lights, prominent shoulder lines, black pillars, raked windshield and roof rails and the C-pillar bear a strong resemblance to the eXUV300 concept. While no official details of the SsangYong E100 have yet to be revealed, it is expected to be underpinned by the MESMA platform, which also supports the eXUV300. This enables the lithium-ion battery package to be set low into the floor to achieve a low centre of gravity and optimize the cabin space.

The SsangYong E100 will bear a strong resemblance to the Mahindra eXUV300.
Since the E100 will borrow the platform from the Mahindra eXUV300, the powertrain options of the two vehicles are also expected to be similar to each other as well. The production-spec eXUV300 is expected to be launched in the Indian auto market next year and will be available in two battery configurations: 350 volt and 380 volt electric systems. The new eXUV300 will be offered with standard 40kWh and 60kWh battery options. While the former will help the SUV cover a range of 370 km per charge, the latter will deliver a range of more than 450 km in a single charge. The SsangYong E100 is anticipated to offer a travel range of around 400 km per charge.
