Tata Motors has just launched the BSVI-compliant Harrier at the Auto Expo 2020, along with an automatic transmission option for the same. The updated Tata car comes with a host of changes and is now priced starting from Rs 13.69 Lakh for the base XE trim to Rs 20.25 Lakh for the XZA+ dark variant (both prices ex-showroom). Bookings for the SUV has commenced both online and offline for a token amount of Rs 30,000.
Despite receiving a positive initial response from buyers, the younger rivals like Kia Seltos and MG Hector did manage to take a heavy toll on the Harrier’s sales. Tata Motors took the opportunity to not only update to BS6-standard but also upgrade the technology, mechanicals, and equipment, in a bid to address the ever-rising competition among the SUV segment.
The updated Tata Harrier now offers a host of new features like a panoramic sunroof, 6-way electrical driver seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror and diamond-cut 17-inch alloy wheels for the range-topping XZ+ and XZA trims. Also, a new shade of Calypso Red brings an exciting vibe to the five-seater SUV. The carmaker also confirms that ESP will come as standard across the range.
The 2020 Tata Harrier showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 wears a dual-tone paint scheme along with a blackened roof, new outside wing mirrors and integrated rear spoiler. The new diamond-cut alloy wheels look pretty cool and sit well with the car’s design while the chrome window line adds to the premium appeal of the vehicle.
The 2020 Tata Harrier is powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine that is now compliant to the BSVI norms. The powertrain produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed MT along with a newly-added 6-speed torque converter sourced from Hyundai. That said, the much-awaited automatic unit will be available in the XMA, XZA and XZA+ variants.
With the addition of new equipment and updates, the Tata Harrier is looking to take a more aggressive fight against the likes of Kia Seltos, MG Hector, next-gen Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass among others.
