While the Indian automobile market is showing a clear indication of the progress in recent months, a large number of auto manufacturers are on a path of sales recovery for the month of August 2020. The home-grown carmaker, Tata Motors is the talk of the town with a healthy sales growth of 154% on a yearly basis, which is the highest sales increase recorded by any carmaker for the month.
Specifically, in August 2020, Tata Motors has reported a total sales of 18,583 units, thereby becoming the country’s third-largest automaker for the third consecutive month. Unsurprisingly, the two top positions are again occupied by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai while Mahindra and Kia Motors sit at fourth and fifth in the manufacturer’s chart for the same month.

Mahindra and Kia registered sales figures of 13,651 units and 10, 853 units, respectively hence they were outsold by Tata Motors by a huge margin. As against 7,316 units sold in August 2019, Tata endures a skyrocketing YoY sales growth of 154 per cent. The model-wise sales performance of the brand is yet to be revealed but we think that the Tata Harrier and Tata Nexon are the major sales contributors here.
In order to boost its sales volume drastically, Tata Motors is planning to launch a host of new products up its sleeve. Recently, the company teased a new variant of the Nexon which is allegedly the Tata Nexon DCT version. The carmaker will more likely to introduce new DCT unit for the Altroz and Harrier in times to come as well.

Also, Tata is gearing up for the big new launches in the form of Tata HBX and Tata Gravitas which are said to hit the market by the end of this year or early next year. The Tata HBX will enter the cross-hatch segment while the Gravitas will become a decent competitor to the likes of MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier, Toyota Innova Crysta, Kia Seltos and more.
