The India-spec Maruti Suzuki WagonR was spied on the Indian roads in full yesterday. The car looks quite different from the outgoing WagonR available in the international markets. As compared to the previous-gen Maruti Suzuki WagonR, the latest version no longer sticks to the tall-boy silhouette and appears in the new set of wheels.
The exterior of the new WagonR seems not to strongly impress the auto enthusiasts
What’s clearly seen from the image is that the car offers a full indication of change with the redesigned wrap-around headlamps curving towards the front grille. The grille simply combines two straight lines with the “S” trademark in the centre while the bumper is designed in the minimalist spirit without fog lamps.
The upgraded interior is likely to take back the public attention
The new-gen WagonR is longer than its predecessor thanks to the addition of the legroom for the 2nd-row seating. The latest floating roof design of the already-launched Maruti Suzuki Ertiga also presents in the WagonR’s cabin.
Anticipated to retain its outgoing model’s platform, the new Wagon will get some major tweaks to handle the new crash test norms in the future. The car will also source the power from the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine as the outgoing models with better-refined tunes. It will be mated to an AMT transmission like the CNG variant.
New various features will be added to the WagonR to compete with the new rivals in the Indian market such as
A SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system
Driver’s side airbag
Reverse parking sensors
The WagonR is likely to be priced at Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 Lakh (ex-showroom, India) when it’s launched to take on the likes of Hyundai Santro and Datsun Go in India.
