In India, especially in metropolitan cities, car parking is at a premium. Just finding a space is quite a tedious task, regardless of whether you’re in a small car or in a big one. While some people simply accept this fact and let troubles govern their life, there are others who use their ingenuity to work something out. Here, we have one such a case, where a person used his available resources to create a remarkable solution.
Maruti Zen Space Saver Parking
In the video above, we see a man trying to park his Maruti Zen. The car reverses carefully, maintaining a safe distance from a tree close by, and drives up a gently steeped ramp. The ramp is perfectly sized for the car, and driving up that in reverse would require a lot of skill. The man then alights from the car, checks around to see if the car is perfectly in place or not, and then pushes it! Turns out that the ramp is capable of rolling on a track, and is specially designed to push the car under the stairwell. Harry Potter would be proud!

The video also caught the eye of Anand Mahindra, the Chairman of Mahindra Group. Mr. Mahindra is quite an active personality on Twitter and often shares such incidents with his followers.
Saw a video of a similar device in Punjab some time ago. But this is one step ahead. I love the ‘geometrical’ elegance of the solution! I bet the person who designed this would be able to give us some real out-of-the-box ideas for making our factory layouts more efficient!

You don’t have to be Anand Mahindra to appreciate this ingenious parking structure. The simple design and brilliant execution make it one of the best home innovations we’ve ever seen. Also, the nearby tree was left alone, and not cut down to make it easier to park the car, which is also great! We must take care of the existing trees, and plant more wherever and whenever possible.
