Amid the Covid-19 Pandemic which put an enormous amount of stress on the Indian automobile industry, it has come as a relief that sales of both two-wheelers and four-wheelers have increased significantly in the past two months. The industry has seen a growth of double-digit figures. Last month, the Maruti Swift was the best selling car in India while the Hyundai Creta was the most popular SUV. The Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a consistent figure in the top-selling cars in India for over a decade now. The hatchback retains the number one position with its newest iteration and is currently the most sold vehicle in 2020. As the best-selling car in India, Maruti Suzuki sold 24,859 units of the Swift in October, which is a 28.13% YOY growth from last year. In October 2019, Maruti Suzuki sold 19,401 units of the Swift.

Maruti Vitara Brezza remains the top dog in the sub-4 metre SUV segment. The company sold 12,807 units of the Brezza in October 2020, an 18% growth from last month. It comes with a petrol engine only. The SUV edges out the newly launched Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and others in its category. 14,023 units of Hyundai Creta were sold in October 2020, making it the highest-selling SUV in the Indian market. Currently, the Creta is Hyundai's best-selling car in India. It nearly doubled its sales, recording an astonishing 92% growth.

Maruti dominated the charts with 8 cars in the list of 10 top-selling cars in India in 2020. Besides the popular Swift, the auto giant also sold 21,971 units of Baleno, 18,700 units of WagonR, 17,851 units of Alto, 17,674 Dzire, 13,309 units of Eeco, and 10,612 units of the S-Presso.
