Here's a Jeep Wrangler that gets a registration number worth Rs. 6.25 lakh, which is equivalent to the on-road price of base-spec Tata Altroz.

Buying a car carries an aspirational value in the Indian market. This statement holds its true in almost every scenario when an Indian is buying a car. For some, purchasing an entry-level hatchback is a moment of pride, whereas, for a few, it is when buying an expensive registration plate for their Jeep Wrangler. Recently, a young entrepreneur from Kerala – Dr Praveen purchased a Jeep Wrangler. However, the interesting part of this purchase was the price that Dr Praveen paid to get a custom registration number for his Jeep Wrangler. Dr Praveen opted for ‘KL-09-BW-0001’ number. To get this registration number, the Jeep owner had to participate in an auction and win the same with a final bid of Rs. 6.25 lakh.

This figure is equal to the on-road price of the Tata Altroz XE, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs. 5.44 lakh. However, it isn’t the first auction in Kerela that has managed to garner a lot of limelight. A businessman in Kerala won the auction for a registration number for whopping Rs. 31 lakh. Interestingly, this is the very-first Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that is delivered in the state of Kerala. It carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 68.94 lakh and is offered in a 5-door trim only. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon comes to India via CBU route from the brand’s USA-based manufacturing facility. It is the American brand’s most-capable SUV and comes with a lot of Trail-rated badges on the outside.

Powering this behemoth is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo-petrol motor that pushes out a peak power output of 265 BHP and max torque of 400 Nm. Transmission duties on the Wrangler Rubicon are performed by an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It also gets a low-range transfer case with a reduction ratio of 77.2:1. Talking of dimensions, the Wrangler Rubicon is 4,882 mm long, 1,894 mm wide and 1,848 mm tall. Furthermore, it gets a ground clearance of 217 mm, 33-inch BF Goodrich KM2 tyres, locking diffs at the front and rear, disconnecting sway bars, and heavy-duty Dana 44 axle at the front. Together, all of this equipment helps the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon excel off the road.
