Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Scorpio are two popularly known SUVs around the country and are well-established in their respective segments. Earlier, we’ve already covered a lot of tug-of-war fights between different vehicles. Here we’ve another video where the aforementioned SUVs can be seen indulged in a tug-of-war against each other, and the final results are quite surprising.

This tug-of-war competition has been conducted on an empty field somewhere in India. Toyota Fortuner is offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The Fortuner we see in this video is powered by a 2.8-litre oil-burner that produces 174bhp of maximum power and 420 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the Mahindra Scorpio is only offered with a 2.2-litre diesel unit, which puts out power and torque outputs of 140bhp and 320 Nm in the BSVI state. The SUV seen here is the BSIV model and hence, outputs 120PS.
This clearly shows that the Fortuner is more powerful than that of the Mahindra Scorpio. The results of a tug-of-war between both the SUVs were quite interesting to see as there was a draw match between Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Scorpio in spite of the former being more powerful. There are two main reasons for this draw in a tug-of-war match. The first reason is both the SUVs were in 4X4 mode during the competition. While the Japanese SUV has an advantage of more power and torque, the Scorpio manages to compete with the large SUV in terms of traction because the Mahindra SUV is much lighter than Fortuner.

The second reason behind the draw in match is that as seen in the video, both the cars were equipped with stock highway terrain tyres, which are not that good for off-roading. That’s why none of the SUV has an advantage in terms of good grip. These are the two major reasons behind these surprising results. Talking about the Mahindra Scorpio, the carmaker has recently introduced the BS6 compliant version of the SUV. The car is offered in three different trim levels namely- S5, S7, S9 and S11 and is the price between Rs 12.46 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 16.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Moreover, Mahindra will launch next generation Scorpio in the coming months.
