Refreshed Maruti Vitara Brezza has been launched in India with a mild hybrid system on the petrol AT variants. This system is also expected to be introduced on the MT variants in the foreseeable future

The recently-launched Maruti Vitara Brezza is available with only one engine option in the form with a gasoline burner that is available with 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission choices. The latter comes with a 12V mild-hybrid technology, which has a torque boost function and start-stop technology.. A document released by the Transport Department has, however, revealed that this system could be soon offered on the manual variants of the compact SUV as well.s

The document has revealed that the petrol MT variants of the Vitara Brezza will also likely come with the mild-hybrid system.

According to the document, the hybrid petrol-MT variant of the Vitara Brezza will continue to receive its power from a 1.5-litre K15B gasoline burner which can generate 105 PS. However, it will also have a 2.4 PS electric motor with torque boost function and start-stop technology. This system is claimed to help enhance the fuel mileage since it helps reduce the load on the gasoline unit. The document also unveils that the hybrid system might be provided on all four variants: LXI, VXI, ZXI and ZXI+.

The interior has received minimal changes.

The more considerable alterations occur under the hood in the form of a new BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre gasoline burner with a mild-hybrid tech which has replaced the 1.3-litre diesel motor.

The price of the vehicle is expected to slightly increase once the hybrid system is introduced on the petrol MT variants.
