According to the earlier reports, the next-gen Suzuki Vitara would make its global debut in October 2020, which turned out to be false. Apparently, due to the current pandemic situation, the launch of this new model was rescheduled for next year. The health crisis has impacted the supply-chain, hence, causing the delay of the new Suzuki Vitara launch. It is expected that in early next year, Suzuki will reintroduce the concept car or the pre-production version of the new-gen Vitara.
Maruti-Toyota To Launch A Kia Seltos Rival in 2022
Suzuki is planning to launch the new-gen Vitara at select markets including Europe, Japan and Australia sometime in mid-2021. On the international market, the Suzuki Brezza will challenge the likes of Kia Seltos, Mazda CX-30, Toyota CH-R, Honda HR-V and Hyundai Kona. It is unlikely that the new-gen Suzuki Vitara will make it to the Indian market since Maruti and Toyota have already worked on another all-new mid-sized SUV which is built on the DNGA platform. The international Suzuki Vitara, on the other hand, is developed from the updated version of the Global C Platform that also underpins the India-spec Maruti Vitara Brezza.
In terms of styling, the new Suzuki Vitara comes with various major updates. The most noticeable change is the dimensional growth. The new-gen SUV is reported to measure around 4.2 meters, 1.7 meters, and 1.6-meters in length, width and height, respectively. Other than that, the Suzuki Vitara also looks sharper with an angular design. The interior is expected to undergo an extensive makeover as well.
Maruti Vitara Brezza Regains Best-Seller Status
About the engines, the Suzuki Vitara will source power from a 1.4-litre Booster jet petrol engine. This mill is capable of making 130 Bhp of peak power and 253 Nm of top torque. It will be available with both manual and automatic transmission. Moreover, it is expected that there is also a mild hybrid system with 48V lithium-ion electric battery on the new Suzuki Vitara. Coming back to the Indian market, it is expected that Maruti-Toyota co-developed mid-sized SUV will enter the market in 2022. It will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
