Here are a few spy images of the long-wheelbase version of Suzuki Jimny. It is likely to hit Indian shores in the near future.

Suzuki Jimny is a three-door SUV, the one which is slated to hit the Indian shores is expected to be a five-door model. This will be the first time that the Suzuki Jimny will get five-door, and it seems that the automaker has already started working on the longer wheelbase model of the car. Recently, a test mule of Suzuki Jimny with a longer wheelbase has been spied for the first time getting tested in Europe, which also confirms its development. The recently spotted test car has a much longer wheelbase as compared to the regular version of Jimny, but it still gets three-doors. If you closely look at the spy picture, you can see that it now gets a much longer glass for the rear windows.

This could also mean that the carmaker is working on the extended version of the regular Jimny, which is sold in the European markets. Nevertheless, one can expect this long-wheelbase version of the car can also underpin the five-door Jimny in India. Furthermore, the long-wheelbase Jimny is also hinting about the pick-up version of the SUV.

Other than the extended length, the test mule looks almost identical to that of the regular version of Jimny. As per the recent reports, Maruti Suzuki confirmed that they are evaluating Jimny for India. Many of you may know that Suzuki is manufacturing Jimny in India to export it to foreign markets.

Talking about Maruti Jimny, it was showcased in the Indian market last year at the Auto Expo 2020. Mechanically, it will derive power from a 1.5-litre gasoline mill, which develops 105 PS of peak power and 138 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same powertrain option does duties in Maruti Vitara Brezza, S-Cross, Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6. In the Indian market, it will rub shoulders with the likes of new-gen Mahindra Thar. It is expected to be offered at a starting price of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
