Realizing the big potentialities of EVs in the Indian auto market, many automakers including Hyundai are planning to introduce new EVs with premium features in the market. Hyundai Motor India has announced that it is intending to introduce an electric vehicle in each of the segment it is now participating in and electrify all of its vehicles in 2030. The first electric vehicle of Hyundai to be released in India is the Hyundai Ioniq EV. Along with the Kona EV, this vehicle had been showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 and is coming to India in the near future. Although much has been discussed about the more well-known Hyundai Kona, a little has been talked about its sedan sibling, the Ioniq. So, today, let’s spare some room for the latter EV to discover what we can expect from it.
Hyundai has confirmed the launch of two new EVs: Ioniq and Kona for the Indian auto market. The Ioniq EV will come to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and then built at the Hyundai’s facility in Chennai. Although the Southern Korea car manufacturer has not made any revelation as to the launch date of this new EV in India, it is expected to be launched here in the first half of 2019, before the Hyundai Kona.
