In the current market, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are the fastest-running players with regard to the sales performance of the segment. The Nissan Kicks has been a long runner but struggling to cement a strong foothold in the crowded premium mid-size crossover competition. With an aim of raising the bar of performance in India, Nissan has just launched the Kicks BS6 which packs itself with a more powerful engine, an automatic transmission and some segment-leading kits. However, what else does the new Nissan Kicks need to fare against the mighty rivals from South Korea, at least on paper? Let’s find out in our New Nissan Kicks BS6 vs 2020 Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos spec sheet comparison.
Now that the BS6-compliant Nissan Kicks has officially come to us, it’s time to revise how the new Nissan SUV measures up against the Seltos and Creta when it comes to the dimensions. Which is the biggest SUV?
Dimensions | New Nissan Kicks | 2020 Hyundai Creta | Kia Seltos |
---|---|---|---|
Length | 4384 mm | 4300 mm | 4315 mm |
Width | 1813 mm | 1790 mm | 1800 mm |
Height | 1651 mm | 1635 mm | 1645 mm |
Wheelbase | 2673 mm | 2610 mm | 2610 mm |
Tyre size | 215/60 R17 | 215/60 R17 | 215/60 R17 |
The answer is obvious in the table above. Nissan Kicks is the biggest SUV of the three. At 4,384 mm in length, Nissan Kicks is the longest model of the lot while it is also higher and wider than both the Creta and Seltos. The Kicks gains the longest wheelbase as well with the figure being at 2,673 mm.
Hyundai Creta is the most “compact” SUV among the three. It measures 4,300 mm long, 1,790 mm wide and 1,635 mm high, which is 84 mm shorter in length, 23 mm narrower and 16 mm shorter in height than the Nissan Kicks. Kia Seltos gets a 4,135 mm length, 1,800 mm width and 1,645 mm height. The Seltos and Creta share the same wheelbase of 2,610 mm. As far as the ground clearance goes, the Nissan continues to lead the race with 210 mm as against that of Hyundai and Kia’s 190 mm.
Modified Hyundai Creta Looks Pretty Cool With Red Hot Interior
The idea of beauty is always subjective but we do think that the Kia Seltos is the best looking car of the trio. When the Seltos first came under the spotlight, it was at the centre of attention for the stylish look. Still, some would be more impressed by the 2020 Hyundai Creta’s quirky appearance. The Nissan Kicks seems to follow a conventional design but it feels a bit of fresh and sporty character.
Since the premium crossovers and SUVs mostly head towards the young tech-savvy audience, it is no surprise that both the new Creta, Seltos and Kicks are brimmed with features. Like the exterior, the dashboard layouts of both cars rely on different themes.
2020 Hyundai Creta Interior Dashboard Layout
In its latest avatar, Hyundai Creta adopts a light grey tone for its interior while its close cousin, Kia Seltos settles for the full-black colour scheme. Both SUVs can be specified with a dual-tone beige colour theme. In the meantime, the Nissan Kicks comes with a dual-tone dark brown and black combination.
Interestingly, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, albeit sitting in the same platform, employs different layouts for their dashboards. The Creta seems to level up the game with the largest-in-segment colour multi-information display.
Kia Seltos Service Cost – Everything To Know
All of the cars are offered with a massive touchscreen infotainment system, despite having different sizes, along with modern connected features. Both Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are well-connected cars. While Kia offers the state-of-the-art UVO connect, the Creta comes with Hyundai’s BlueLink connectivity. Actually, Hyundai’s is a little more advanced than the Kia car since it is newer to the game.
Hyundai Creta’s big USP is its extensive feature list. While the Seltos is already a feature-laden car, the Hyundai Creta shares a lot of cues from the Seltos sibling. While we did break down the new Creta’s features compared with Kia Seltos, let us recap here some of the features of Seltos that aren’t making to the Creta. They are head-up display, 360-degree camera, front parking sensors and a blind-spot monitor.
Hyundai Creta also obtains some of the kits that we’ve not seen in the Seltos, including a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof along with an electronic parking brake.
On the other hands, the 2020 Nissan Kicks BS6 makes no changes to its interior with a touchscreen for the infotainment alongside Nissan Connect. The Nissan Kicks is also packed with Smartwatch connectivity, automatic AC, rear AC vents, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, cooled glove box and twin parcel shelf, all of which start right from the base variants – a complement for Nissan. The higher-spec models are also equipped with rain-sensing wipers, leatherette soft-touch dashboard and more. Seems like Nissan Kicks is coming with all gun-blazing to bring down the dominance of the Creta and Seltos this time around.
Here's a Hyundai Creta that Changes Colours Like a Chameleon
The South Korean players turn out to have upper hands as far as the safety features go. Safety features of the Nissan Kicks BS6 comprise of four airbags, ABS, EBD, Hill-start assists, ESC with traction control and cruise control. The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos are available with six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, hill-start assists plus rear disc brakes and tire pressure monitoring system.
In its BS6 avatar, the Nissan Kicks has upgraded its existing 1.5-litre H4K naturally-aspirated petrol engine to the BS6 emission standards while ditched the ageing 1.5-litre K9K dCi turbocharged diesel mill. The former is tuned to produce 106 PS of max power and 142 Nm of peak torque.
Nissan brings in an all-new 1.5-litre HR13 turbocharged petrol engine added to the Kicks’ lineup. This mill can develop an impressive power of 156 HP and 254 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful powertrain of the segment. Excitingly, the new turbo-petrol engine can be had with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed CVT unit. The earlier 1.5-litre H4K engine carries forward the 5-speed manual transmission.
Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta share the same powertrain system that offers three engine options – 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel engine along with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit. Check out the power and torque outputs of the Seltos and Creta compared with Nissan Kicks.

Clearly, before the arrival of new Nissan Kicks, the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos get the best-in-class performance figures. The new Kicks just comes to raise a battle of turbo-petrol engines now and it manages to take the lead amongst the trio.
Now that the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta offers a larger number of variants, they are positioned in a larger price range. Logically, the Kicks with lesser engines and gearbox transmission will have a smaller price bracket.
Models | New Nissan Kicks | 2020 Hyundai Creta | Kia Seltos |
---|---|---|---|
Price (ex-showroom, Delhi) | 9.49 - 14.14 Lakh | Rs 9.99 – 17.2 Lakh | Rs 9.89 – 17.34 Lakh |
Frankly, the Kicks might skip some certain premium bits compared to the two other rivals but its top-of-the-line variant is significantly more affordable than those of the Seltos and Creta counterparts. What do you think about these vehicles? Let us know.
