The most important update of the Tata Altroz iTurbo, regardless of the variants, is the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which churns out 110 PS and 140 Nm. This engine is carried forward from the Tata Nexon. However, on entering the small hatchback, this engine is detuned to offer lower power output. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It is expected that Tata will introduce a 7-speed DCT transmission at a later stage. Tata Altroz will be the first Tata cars to get DCT gearbox.
In terms of pricing, it is expected that Tata will price the Altroz iTurbo competitively. It is likely to undercut the price of Hyundai i20 Turbo. The regular Tata Altroz is currently priced from Rs 5.44 lakh to Rs 8.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbo variants will command Rs 1 lakh over the regular versions. It is likely to be priced from Rs 8 lakh onwards. It will rival against the likes of Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz, and Toyota Glanza CVT. Booking for the Tata Altroz iTurbo is available at a token amount of Rs 11,000.
