The Maruti Suzuki Baleno comes with a 339L boot and a wide range of classy features including HID headlamps and a touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay connectivity. They ensure a comfortable and pleasant journey for both the driver and the co-passengers.
Under the Baleno’s hood, a 1.2L petrol engine is kept and responsible for providing the power for the car. This motor is well-known for its impressive performance with a maximum power/torque output of 84 hp/115 Nm and a wonderful fuel efficiency of about 13 kmpl and 21 kmpl in the city and on the highway, respectively. With a 5-speed MT gearbox in use, it is quite enjoyable to drive on bad roads and relaxing in the city.
The 1.2L petrol motor of the Maruti Baleno is very powerful and fuel-efficient
Having said that, the most remarkable good quality of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the superb ride quality. It handles quite comfortably on bad roads by easily overcoming cuts and potholes on the roads. When the car is moving at a speed of more than 100 kmph, its performance in the city is excellent, it is even better on the highway. Limit the speed under this level, then you can enjoy a comfortable drive in any cases.
The most noteworthy quality of a used Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the good riding quality
The maintenance expense of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is very low. Likewise, the service and parts are not expensive as well.
The above has clearly shown that the Baleno hatchback inherits the good qualities from other previous Maruti Suzuki cars. Nevertheless, there are several things that you should take into consideration before making a decision to buy a used Baleno.
The power window switches are vulnerable to malfunctioning, so it is worth carefully checking these components. A substitute is cheap, but it is always advisable if you can find a Baleno without a broken down power windows switches.
There have been complaints about the difficult-to-handle clutch, which can result in the car being suddenly stopped. As a consequence, the driver has a tendency to put their foot on the clutch while riding it, which makes it wear out more easily and quickly. A new clutch would be priced at about INR 6,000.
The Baleno is also included in the recall of Maruti Suzuki for cars produced between August 2015 and May 2016 to fix the defective airbag controller module. So watch out for this feature to see if the defective one has been fixed. You should choose a Baleno with an airbag alert on the instrument cluster and have a technician examine it.
The SmartPlay infotainment touchscreen setup has a tendency to fail to work properly. Also, there have also been complaints about the reversing camera; therefore, pay attention to these features as well.
A CTV automatic variant of the Baleno hatchback has also been introduced to the Indian auto market. It would be a perfect choice for anyone who prefers the convenience of an automatic gearbox.
You are highly recommended to purchase the top-of-the-line Alpha variant, which offers the HID headlights and a touchscreen infotainment system.
While having many good qualities, a used Maruti Baleno also have some problems
When first launched in 2015, the Baleno hatchback had an on-road price range of INR 6 lakh to INR 10 lakh. The used Baleno has a starting price of INR 5.5 lakh even for the top-of-the-line Alpha variant. If you are looking for a CVT automatic Baleno, you should be willing to pay INR 6 lakh or more for the vehicle. At this price range, it is such a wonderful hatchback for all the offerings: a well-equipped cabin, powerful, an amber boot, an efficient and trusty engine and a superb riding quality. The recently launched facelifted Baleno also provides buyers with more scope for bargaining.
