The design language of the current-gen Verna employs a coupe-like roofline, which looks unique and gives it an advantage over the competitors. At the front, the sedan features a cascading grill. The illumination duties are done by an extended projector headlamps and fog lamps. Moreover, the new-gen Hyundai Verna has also employed some premium chrome elements around the car to attract Indian buyers. The 1.6-litre petrol mill produces 121 bhp and 151 Nm, while the top-of-the-line 1.6-litre, diesel engine puts out power and torque outputs of 126 bhp and 260 Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed gearbox.

The upcoming Hyundai Verna will borrow engines from the Kia Seltos, which include BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 116 bhp and 144 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre oil-burner which churns out 116 bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the Korean carmaker will discontinue the existing engine options before 1st April 2020.

The ongoing Hyundai Verna features BSIV-compliant engines, rated to offer a mileage of 17 kmpl (1.6-litre petrol AT) and 15 kmpl (1.4-litre diesel MT). While the 1.4-litre diesel motor offers 24 kmpl of mileage and the 1.6-litre the diesel engine gives 21 kmpl (AT) and 24 kmpl (MT) of fuel-efficiency. As we know that the 2020 Hyundai Verna will get BSVI compliant engines. The fuel-efficiency will be slightly less, but only by around 5-10%.
Talking about the prices of both cars, the 1.4-litre petrol, base variant of the current-gen Hyundai Verna is priced at Rs 8.18 lakh (ex-showroom) and it goes all the way up to Rs 14.09 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec 1.6-litre diesel automatic variant. Hyundai has not yet revealed the prices of the new Verna, but we expect the car to be slightly more expensive than the ongoing model because it’ll feature a BS6-compliant engine along with some added features.
