All-New Isuzu D-Max Revealed

The new Isuzu D-Max has been newly-designed, is better-equipped and has been structurally updated to be much safer.

The all-new Isuzu D-Max has been revealed by the Japanese auto manufacturer. Scheduled to go on sale in some South-east Asian markets like Thailand and India, the D-Max is available in multiple cab versions (two-door and four-door), indicating that the pickup truck will be offered for both personal and commercial usage.

The new D-Max comes with a longer wheelbase than the current model but overall, measures less in length and weight. The pickup truck has been upgraded with a stiffer body shell to conform to the safety norms in Thailand. It also gets new, mandatory safety features such as a cross-traffic warning system and blind-spot monitoring.

Although the new model still retains the D-Max’s signature robust, off-road appearance; the upgraded high-spec V-Cross variant comes with a new radiator grille, along with a new front bumper design which accommodates the fog lamps and the turn indicators. Apart from these new design cues, you also get bi-LED projector headlamps, newly-designed alloy wheels, LED tail lamps integrated into a re-designed cluster.

The D-Max also received gets substantial changes inside. These updates include a new 9.0-inch infotainment unit which supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation. Moreover, the new truck is also equipped modern features such as a new dual-zone climate control system and a larger digital MID incorporated into the instrument cluster.

The new pick-up truck also gets quite a few interior updates.

For Thailand, the new Isuzu D-Max will give customers two motor options to choose from. The first one is a 1.9-litre oil burner which can produce 150 HP and 350 Nm of torque, and was recently debuted in the India-bound D-Max automatic. The second one is a 3.0-litre diesel unit with a maximum power of 190 HP and a peak torque of 450 Nm. The transmission duties are undertaken by a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT unit. In international market, both 4WD and RWD system are available on this new pickup truck.

It remains unknown whether the Japanese automaker will bring this all-new vehicle to India to replace the D-Max V-Cross which was first launched here in 2016, but the introduction of the vehicle in India is expected to take place soon.
