Toyota Innova is the current bestseller from the Japanese carmaker in India, and in its BSVI avatar, the car is not only more environment-friendly, but has now been made safer as well! Toyota Kirloskar has updated the standard equipment list of the entire Innova range, which now gets stability control and hill-start assist on all trims.
BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta has a more comprehensive safety net than BS4 model
Toyota Innova Crysta already boasted of a decent safety features list, before the aforementioned additions. It used to feature Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), dual front airbags (driver and front passenger), driver knee airbag, seatbelt reminder, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and height-adjustable seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters. The Innova has been rated at ‘4-stars’ in ASEAN NCAP crash test safety assessment, which is a good score. That, however, was only for the top-trim model.

There are two engine options available with the car- a 2.7-litre petrol and a 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel. The petrol motor is an inline-4, naturally aspirated unit with 165 PS of maximum power and 245 Nm of peak torque. The diesel mill is an inline-4, turbocharged unit which can generate 149 PS and 343 Nm. On both the powerplants, 6-speed manual is offered as standard, and a 6-speed torque converter automatic is available as an option. The car is only available in a rear-wheel-drive format. The price list begins at Rs.15.36 lakh* for the base model and goes up to Rs. 23.02 lakh*.
Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition Unveiled
Earlier this year, a CNG-powered variant of the Toyota Innova Crysta was spotted during a road test in Gurugram. The car will reportedly get a factory-fitted CNG kit bolted on to the 2.7-litre petrol engine. Power and torque outputs will drop when the car is running on CNG, but other than that, everything shall remain the same.
