FCA has silently discontinued the entry-level trim of Jeep Compass in India. The mid-size SUV is now retailed at a starting price of Rs 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Earlier, the price of the entry-level Jeep Compass was Rs 15.60 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), before the BS6 emission norms came into action.

The SUV gets costlier almost almost Rs 90,000
From now, the SUV will be offered only in four different trim levels, namely- Sport Plus, Longitude, Longitude Plus and Limited Plus, as the carmaker has discontinued Sport, Longitude (O), Limited and Limited (O) variants. With the Sport trim discontinued, the lowest grade on offer is the Sport Plus, which means the Compass range starts a almost Rs 90,000 higher than before.

Jeep Compass Sports Plus offers features like electrically adjustable side mirrors, 16-inch sporty looking alloy wheels, automatic climate control, blacked-out fabric upholstery with cattle tan stitching, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Moreover, the SUV will also employ safety features like driver & passenger airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ESC, EPB and TSC.

Jeep Compass Sports Plus will be retailed as base trim of the SUV
The entry-level Jeep Compass gets its power from an updated BS6-compliant 1.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol mill that produces power and torque outputs of 160bhp at 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm at 2,5000 rpm, respectively. Buyers can also opt for a 2.0-litre, four-pot, oil-burner, which puts out 171bhp of peak power at 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm of twisting force at 1,750 rpm. Both the engines come paired with a 6-speed manual or an optional automatic gearbox. The diesel engine is also offered with a 4x4 system. The SUV competes with the likes of Tata Harrier and Kia Seltos.
