Jeep will introduce 3 new SUVs in the country in the form of Compass facelift, a bigger 3-row version of the same, and all-new sub-4m SUV. All of these SUVs will be the most capable 4X4s in their respective segment.

Jeep started its innings in the country with the expensive Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee. It then launched the Compass, which grew the reach of the brand. However, the compass has now turned quite old in the Indian market and with new competition on the block, it is finding it tough to clock high numbers on the sales chart. The smaller Renegade was long anticipated to make its debut here in the Indian market. But, Jeep seems to have some other plans. The carmaker is planning to launch a set of new SUVs that will comprise of rival for the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour on one hand and Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon on the other.

The 7-seater Jeep SUV will be based on the Jeep Compass itself and will rival the likes of bigger ladder-frame SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner.

The first from the set will be a comprehensively facelifted Compass. Following the Compass facelift, a small sub-4m compact SUV and an all-new three-row SUV are also expected to make their way to the showroom floors. The new 3-row SUV will be based on the Compass itself. It will compete against the likes of the larger Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The 7-seater Jeep SUV is internally codenamed as Jeep 598 and will borrow design cues from the Compass. It will be powered by the BS-6 compliant 2.0L petrol and diesel engines.

The compact SUV, on the other hand, is going to be the next product after the 3-row SUV. Since the carmaker is already late to the party, it will now come prepared with the most capable compact SUV in the country. The Jeep’s iteration of the sub-4m SUV will compete with the Vitara Brezza and the likes. However, the 4wd variants of the Jeep’s compact SUV are expected to be as capable as the upcoming Maruti Jimny.

The Jeep Compass facelift is expected to be launched later this year. It will feature cosmetic updates on the outside as well as on the inside. The features list will also be brimmed up with newer and advanced tech. That said, it will continue with the same set of BS-6 compliant engines as the current model.
