Kia has released a new TV commercial for the Seltos SUV projecting on the car's tagline - 'Badass By Design".

Launched in the Indian market in August 2019, the Kia Seltos has turned out to be a money-making machine for the manufacturer. The car helped the company to become the third-biggest carmaker of the country. Till date, Kia has sold around 75,000 units of this SUV. Thus, it can be referred to as a well-packaged product with no major shortcomings to speak of. The South-Korean car brand introduced the Seltos with a tagline ‘Badass By design’, thereby projecting on crossover’s bold styling cues. Now, the manufacturer has released a new TVC for the Seltos which is based on the same theme. The new commercial comes in just a couple of days after the launch of the 2020 Hyundai Creta.

New Kia Seltos TVC.

One of the many reasons for the success of the Kia Seltos are the multiple powertrain and drivetrain options, thereby making it suit the needs of various car buyers. The SUV is offered in a total of 25 variants, including the dual-tone paint schemes. Also, the ageing Creta, which was due for a generation change, helped the Seltos in making big numbers on the sales charts But Hyundai has now launched the new-gen Creta with a starting price tag of Rs. 9.99 lakh and thus, it will be interesting to see how these cousins would fare against each other.

Talking of the mechanical bits, the Seltos is offered with 3 engines options – a 1.5L 4-cylinder N/A petrol engine with a peak output of 115 PS and 144 Nm, a 1.5L turbo-diesel producing 115 PS and 250 Nm, and a 1.4L turbo-petrol motor with a rated output of 140 PS and 242 Nm. All the three engine options are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, however, the 1.5L petrol can be had with a CVT gearbox, while the turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engine can be had mated to a 7-speed DCT and 6-speed AT, respectively. These same set of engines and gearbox are offered on the new Creta as well.
