Dealerships of Mahindra have recently accepted bookings for the Mahindra Alturas G4, the new version of the SsangYong Rexton. The Alturas G4 SUV is set to launch on this November 24, 2018.

Commenting about the name of Alturas G4 ahead of its official launch, Veejay Nakra, the Chief of Sales & Marketing from Mahindra and Mahindra has stated to the media,
"The word Alturas means 'height' or 'pinnacle'. The Alturas G4 represents a gateway into the luxury for those who have reached the pinnacle of success in their lives. Being our most luxurious offering, exquisitely designed and crafted, we believe that the Alturas G4 name perfectly describes this product."

Mahindra Alturas is claimed to be the most expensive as well as powerful Mahindra car till date. It will position above the XUV 500 in Mahindra’s line-up profile.
Despite being underpinned from the SsangYong SUV, the Alturas G4 also gets some styling tweaks and mechanical changes. Some common cues shared with the Rexton including the specific grille and the body-on-frame construction. These are considered the Mahindra family design features.

In terms of feature, the upcoming SUV of Mahindra will receive a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is claimed to produce 183 bhp. Mahindra has no intention to produce the petrol engine version in Indian market at least at this phase even though it was available on the global Rexton version.

The petrol engine version is likely to be unavailable in the Indian market
Mahindra dealerships have accepted the pre-booking without announcing the price details of the SUV. However, it is stated to be in the range of around Rs.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X.
