Mahindra eKUV100 is expected to be priced under 9 lakh. It will be displayed at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo.

Mahindra eKUV100 is slated to launch this year at the Auto Expo 2020. Ahead of its official launch, the electric SUV is confirmed to be priced around Rs 9 lakh.Besides revealing the price details of the eKUV100, Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra Group also shares the company’s ambition and plan in the electric vehicle market, saying, “Electric mobility is now the future. We are looking at various options and shared mobility is a priority for us over a personal one.”

In other words, the homegrown car manufacturer will focus more in the commercial cars segment than the private vehicles space. As per the statement, the director also underlined how important the pricing and acclaimed that with the eKUV, Mahindra will “break the price barrier with a sub-9-lakh SUV.” This affordable pricing is expected to bring the eKUV an advantage over other competitors in the fledging EV market.

This is not the first time Mahindra eKUV shows up at an Auto Expo. In fact, at the last Auto Expo which was held in 2018, Mahindra eKUV had made its debut under the near-production form. It takes Mahindra two years to finalize and ready this electric SUV to go on sale in the market. The delaying was caused by the market downturn last year.

Mahindra eKUV100 is powered a 30 kW electric motor along with a Lithium-ion battery pack. This battery pack features 140 km per charge. It comes with both AC fast charger and DC charger. With the DC charger, Mahindra eKUV will be charged up to 80 per cent in less than 60 minutes.

Apart from the eKUV100, Mahindra is working on several new electric vehicles including the XUV300 Electric. According to Goenka, after the eKUV100, the company will work on the electric version of the XUV300. This electric vehicle will focus on personal mobility space. He also claimed that the new electric SUV will deliver a decent range which is on par with other electric models in the market. With the XUV300 EV, Mahindra targets to bring a high range of around 300-400 km.

After its launch at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Mahindra eKUV100 is likely to go on sales in April this year. At this price range, the Mahindra eKUV100 will find itself a unique position in the market with no direct rivals. Get the latest news at IndianAuto.com.
