Up to now, the auto manufacturer has based on the source of the AMT gearbox from Ricardo, a UK-based company. But for the new compact SUV, Mahindra has been reported to equip its diesel version with an AMT gearbox sourced from Magneti Marelli, like two of its direct competitors, the Tata Nexon and the Maruti Vitara Brezza. Both of the XUV300’s direct rivals get AMT on their petrol engine but there has been no confirmation from Mahindra to introduce AMT on this motor option. It is also rumoured that the XUV300 will get a torque converter automatic sourced from Aisin when the vehicle gets an engine update to conform to the BS-VI emission standards which will take effect in 2020.
