Plug-In Hybrid Jeep Renegade Revealed

Jeep Renegade plug-in hybrid became the American auto manufacturer’s first electric vehicle to be showcased at the 2019 Turin Auto Show which took place in Italy from June 19 to June 23, 2019.

Being the smallest SUV of Jeep’s portfolio, the Jeep Renegade has attracted a great deal of attention from the auto community for its Jeep badge and contracted design. Jeep has added a plug-in hybrid variant of the Renegade to the lineup and showcased it at the Geneva Motor Show. The EV has recently been debuted in another event, the 2019 Turin Auto Show in Italy.

Regarding the Renegade PHEV, the vehicle is powered by a1.3-litre turbo 4-cyl petrol motor. Combining with this engine is an electric engine, which helps the total output amount to from 190 to 240 PS (237 HP/177 kW). The SUV can accelerate from a standstill to 100 kmph in around 7 seconds. Because the vehicle is PHEV, you can charge the battery with an exterior plug or with the regenerative energy produced by the motor itself.

The vehicle can run solely on the electric motor and has a driving range with a zero-emission level of 50 km, which is equivalent to 31 miles. On a full-electric mode, you can reach a maximum speed of 130 kmph, which will certainly make the battery run out faster. The CO2 emissions are limited to 50g/km, indicating that this vehicle is the most environmentally-friendly version of the current Renegade.

The vehicle is also claimed to come with an infotainment screen and a unique instrument cluster. These will show the details related to the PHEV more environmentally-friendly nature.

The American carmaker also remarks that with the constant circulation of torque, the car offers “extreme precision during take-off and while driving on the most challenging terrain”. The eAWD system with two independently-working axles helps petrol motor drive the front rims while the battery provides power for the rear axles. Moreover, there is less necessity for a low-range transmission, thanks to the configuration.

In the Gevena Motor Show, there is also another PHEV, the Jeep Compass, which came as good news for many Indian auto buyers who have been long for a more environmentally-friendly version of the Compass.
