Earlier, Maruti Vitara Brezza was only offered with a diesel powertrain, but after the introduction of the new BS6 emission norms, the automaker decided to offer the updated model of the car with only a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The new model of the SUV is doing quite well in terms of overall sales, but many buyers around the country still want the diesel version. On the other hand, Ford EcoSport is another enthusiast SUV. Moreover, Ford EcoSport started the sub-4-meter SUV segment. It might be the most dated SUV in its segment, but it still attracts a lot of enthusiast around the country. In the first round, one can see Maruti Brezza gaining a clear head start and effortlessly wins the race. In the second round, the race battle was quite interesting. There’s a neck to neck competition as one can see both the SUVs struggling to overtake each other. By the end of the race, Ford EcoSport wins with literally a couple of milliseconds. For the second attempt, the drivers were switched.

The Ford EcoSport is slightly more powerful than the Maruti Vitara Brezza. Ford EcoSport diesel is powered by a 1.5-litre four-pot diesel motor, which puts out 100 PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the BS4 Maruti Brezza was powered by a 1.3-litre diesel motor that produces power and torque outputs of 89 PS and 200 Nm. The Maruti Vitara Brezza is comparatively lighter than the Ford EcoSport. Moreover, the torque to weight ratio of Maruti Vitara Brezza is a lot higher than that of the Ford EcoSport, which is why it could outclass the EcoSport on a drag strip.
