Hyundai Venue is one of the most powerful sub-4-meter SUVs in its segment. It rivals with the likes of Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. Hyundai Venue is also among the top-selling cars in its segment, while, on the other hand, Mahindra XUV300 is the most underrated SUV. Here’s a quick drag race video between Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Venue. Watch the video embedded below to know the surprising results.

This video is uploaded by the YouTube channel of Autocar India. The Hyundai Venue you see in the video is the turbo petrol variant of the SUV that produces power and torque outputs of 120bhp and 172 Nm and the motor offered with Mahindra XUV300 develops 110bhp and 200 Nm of twisting force. As one can see in the video that the Hyundai SUV produces more power, while the XUV300 churns out more torque. The XUV300 is offered with a 6-speed MT as standard and the Venue features a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT. As soon as the race starts, Mahindra XUV300 takes the lead and effortlessly wins the race. The Mahindra SUV was just slightly ahead of Hyundai Venue. This drag race was quite exciting because there is a gap of 0.177 between both the cars.

You must be thinking that the Hyundai Venue is 10bhp more potent that Mahindra XUV300, but why did it lose?
The answer is pretty simple. Mahindra XUV300 wins the race because of additional torque it gets. Mahindra XUV300 puts out 200 Nm of peak torque, which is 28Nm higher than that of the Hyundai Venue. The petrol and diesel trims of XUV300 offers the highest torque figures in its segment. The Hyundai Venue is priced between Rs 6.7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 11.52 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the Mahindra XUV300 costs between Rs 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 12.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Mahindra XUV300 is slightly expensive than Hyundai Venue but, in terms of safety, it is much safer than Hyundai Venue.
