Like in some other states in India, car users should easily follow two steps to register a new car in Haryana: Temporary Registration and Permanent registration. Since the temporary registration number issued on your new vehicle is only valid within a month, getting the permanent registration number for your car is required within this period. If your car wasn’t registered at the regional RTO office, it would be illegal to drive or permit it to be driven in any public place across the cities in Haryana.
While the temporary registration is mostly given by the dealer from which your four-wheeler is bought, where and how to get a permanent registration for your car before the temporary one expires? Here we give you all details about car registration charges in Haryana, the exact procedures, all required documents, and a list of RTOs of Haryana state.
A certain amount of money would be required to pay as per the cost of your car when you apply for vehicle registration in Haryana. Depending on the specific rules, RTO officials would announce the exact charges and fees applicable to the car registration process. Apart from that, the car owner would have to pay road tax before using his or her car on any public road. Revenue from this type of tax then could be used for the construction of roads, the transport infrastructure, state highways, etc.
Road tax levied for a car is calculated on a number of factors such as type of vehicle, size and engine capacity, etc. It can be paid all at once at the time of buying the car or on an annual basis.
Cars that are found not paying road tax would receive a strict penalty of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000 depending on the vehicle.
