Nissan will introduce its first new car in years for the Indian market. After entering our shore, it will take on one of the most competitive segment in the market in recent years – the segment for SUVs. The direct rival of the Kicks will be the Hyundai Creta, and the Renault Captur. Here we will give you an overall picture of this fierce race by giving out the specification of these cars.
Knowing the SUV segment is not a piece of cake, Nissan has prepared the India-spec Kicks with the idealist dimension possible, which means as large as possible. It is not surprising as the size is the make-or-break factor in this race trail.
India-spec Nissan Kicks will be larger than the international version
As the result, we have a Kicks with a larges dimension ever, bigger than its international version. More specifically, it grows 89mm in length, reaching 4,384mm. At this length, Kicks is the longest among the three. For the width, it stands at 1813, which outgrows the Hyundai Creta but fall in line with the Renault Captur. In terms of the hight, it turns out that Hyundai Creta is the king, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur stay behind at 1656mm and 1626mm, respectively. But considering the ground clearance, it comes as a surprise that the Hyundai Creta is actually the lowest, at 190mm, while both Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur stands at 210-mm ground clearance.

As far as we know, the Kicks will share the same engine with the Captur. And it’s no surprise that both cars will come up with the same power outlet. The shared petrol engine is suspected to be the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder motor which is able to leash out 106BHP and 142Nm. Both will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks will share the same engine
The diesel Hyundai Creta has a bigger engine displacement of 1.6 litre. This unit could churn out 123BHP and 151Nm, higher than the Kicks and Captur. In terms of the power outlet, it seems that the Creta still remains unbeatable in its class. Besides, it also offers both manual and automatic transmission.
For the diesel version, Kicks will continue to borrow engines from the Captur. They will share the same 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged motor. This unit manages to produce 128BHP and 260Nm. And the diesel versions will be mated exclusively to the 6-speed manual gearbox. Whereas the 1.6-litre unit on the Creta could bring out 128BHP and 260Nm. A 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox are offered on the Creta.
Hyundai Creta provides the highest power output out of the three models
It is still unclear what will be offered on the India-spec Kicks. Until now, there is only the exterior revealed. But it is expected that the Kicks will get LED headlight and 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, possibly on the higher range. To know more about the expected features, read here.
For the Captur, it comes packed with LED headlight but sadly, lacks the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The Creta is well-equipped, but it doesn’t have LED headlight.
In terms of price, the Kicks is expected to be priced at around 9.4 lakh and could go up to 15 lakh. With this price range, the Kicks will be positioned above Terrano.
