After launching the subcompact SUV Mahindra XUV300 in early 2019, Mahindra will shift the focus to developing the electric version of the SUV. This EV will be available with two powertrains, a common offer that applied by Hyundai, Nissan or Renault.
The latest electric motor of Mahindra is the one featured on the Verito EV that has 21kWh on tap. But Mahindra has confirmed that eS201 will come with a higher kWh and possibly, there will be two versions to power the car. One will highlight the powerful performance with higher kWh while the other put a strong focus on the driving experience. Or in Mahindra’s speak, they are called “object of desire” and “object of utility.”
"This will be in a higher kWh than what we are currently doing. Currently, we are in 21 kWh in Verito EV and this will be higher. We will probably do two versions – one will be more of an object of desire with more kWh, one will be more of an object of utility, perhaps for more of commuting experience." Said Pawan Goenka, Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra.
On the top-of-the-line variant, it is likely that a 380-volt system developed by SsangYong and Mahindra Electric. Mahindra claims that the range of the battery could reach 250km on the New European Driving Cycle. The EV could do the 0-100kmph print in 11 seconds and the top speed rates at 159kmh
Mahindra eXUV300 will look much like the upcoming XUV300
Mahindra XUV300 will be launched soon in early 2019 and the e-XUV300 will come by 2020 along with another electric vehicle which is suspected to be the Mahindra XUV Aero.
Mahindra XUV300 will be packed with a load of goodies like dual-zone climate control, sunroof or seven airbags. It is highly possible that the eXUV300 will share the same features and some more when it is launched.
