The Mahindra XUV300 petrol automatic is expected to be the most powerful SUV in its segment once launched in India this month.
The sub-four-metre SUV space is seeing the harsher competition which urges the manufactures to spice up their products to stay competitive in the country. In a similar fashion, Mahindra & Mahindra is doing just that to the XUV300.
Up until now, the Mahindra XUV300 is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine under the bonnet. The former is capable of kicking out 110 PS of max power and 200 Nm of peak torque while the oil burner can put out 117 PS against 300 Nm of torque. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed MT as standard along with a 6-speed AT optional for the diesel burner only.
Apparently, the current Mahindra XUV300 gets quite a good set of engine and gearbox options. However, the only niggle people had with the baby-XUV is the absence of a petrol-automatic variant, the same has been offered by most of its competitors already. Therefore, it’s time for Mahindra to bring in a new optional automatic transmission for the XUV300’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol version so as not to be lagged behind. We do expect the gearbox option to be a 6-speed torque converter unit.
Talking about the XUV300 petrol automatic, the car will likely feature a couple of cosmetic changes to differentiate itself from other variants. It will continue offering many top-notch features such as a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic temperature control, R17 alloy wheels, engine push-button start/stop, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors among others.
In terms of safety, the new Mahindra XUV300 petrol AT will still come with 7 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, all-four disc brakes, ESP with roll-over mitigation, a tyre pressure monitoring system, corner braking control and more. At the moment, Mahindra is selling the XUV300 at the price starting from Rs 7.94 – 12.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The introduction of the petrol-automatic trim will lead to an increase in the price of the XUV300 surely. Stay updated to IndianAutofor further update on the Mahindra XUV300 petrol automatic and more.
