Hyundai Motors India started accepting bookings for the Elite i20 BS6 early last month. The new BSVI model has priced between Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 8.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The stringent emission norms will come into action by 1st April 2020, and, as a result, Hyundai has discontinued the diesel engine variant and will continue with only a petrol engine option, at least, until the new-gen model arrives later this year. As compared to the BS4 model, the updated Hyundai Elite i20 BS6 is Rs 90,000 costlier.

Hyundai India is offering the Elite i20 BS6 in three different trim levels- Magna+, Sportz+ and Asta (O). The top-of-the-line variant features projector headlights with cornering function and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. Except Magna +, all the other trims employ a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility, steering mounted controls, automatic air conditioner, rear A/C vents, voice recognition system and much more.
Mechanically, the BSVI Hyundai Elite i20 derives power from a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 82 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm of twisting force at 4,000 rpm. The transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual transmission, as the carmaker has stopped offering the hatchback with a CVT transmission. Inside, the car continues to be offered with Black and Beige cabin along with single tone and dual-tone colour options. It competes with the likes of Maruti Baleno and recently launched Tata Altroz.

One can expect the India-spec new-gen Hyundai i20 to feature a new 1.0-litre, turbocharged GDI petrol motor that debuted in the Grand i10 Nios Turbo. The petrol mill develops power and torque outputs of 100 PS and 172 Nm.
