The most considerable improvement of the new-gen D-Max may be the introduction of a brand-new 1.9L diesel motor. This motor is good for a max power of 150PS and a peak torque of 150Nm, 12PS and 30Nm more than the previous 2.5L diesel which is under the hood of the existing D-Max V-Cross. Moreover, besides substitution of the 6-speed MT gearbox for the 5-speed MT one, the transmission duties are going to be undertaken by an optional 6-speed AT unit.
The Japanese automaker is intending to completely replace the 2.5L diesel engine with the new 1.9 diesel unit in India. In fact, the latter has been discarded globally. The new engine is expected to meet new BSVI standards that will take effect here from April next year, which the old engine has not managed to do.
