The stricter safety regulations have set in and have been pushing many Indian automobile manufacturers to upgrade their products along the line. The Indo-Japanese-owned automaker, Maruti Suzuki is not an exception.
Maruti Suzuki is one of the first carmakers to get its vehicles updated well ahead of the safety norms deadline.
In fact, the country’s largest-selling automotive company has already started making mass updates to its model lineup to help it comply with the new norms, while the Omni and Gypsy, which didn't support the updates, have been discontinued.
Recently, Maruti Suzuki has added a bucketful of essential safety features including driver airbag, ABS with EBD, driver & co-driver seatbelt reminders, reverse parking sensor, speed alert, etc. to the its tour range of cars which are based on four regular models- Dzire, Alto 800, Eeco and Celerio meant for commercial taxi usage. These moves have been done in an effort to make the above cars compliant with the Automotive Industry Standards-145 Safety norms (AIS-145). The AIS-145 rule mandates cars sold in India to get the above standard safety features.
The company's tour cars lineup will be given a set of standard features to make it safer pursuant to the safety norms.
Undoubtedly, the addition of all these safety fitments has caused an increase in the price range of Maruti Suzuki Tour model series. The Maruti Dzire Tour S will be now sold in a price range of Rs 5.60- 6.60 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) from now on. Apart from upgrading the safety features, Maruti Suzuki will also make massive structural reforms in many vehicles to help them comply with the upcoming crash safety norms.
