Six Upcoming Skoda Cars In India
It is the first time that the Czech automaker offers a combination of a CNG and petrol motor on a vehicle. Skoda claims that the new motor is able to generate power spontaneously with a low amount of CO2 emission of under 90 grams/km. To be more specific, the Vision X concept is powered by a new 1.5L G-TEC 4-cylinder turbocharged motor which has been particularly developed to be combined with CNG. This engine is able to produce a max power of 127bhp and a peak torque of 249Nm. This motor is supported by two electric engines, one on the rear axle and one belt-driven starter generator.
However, the sad news for Indian car buyers is that Volkswagen Group has announced that the production model of the new compact SUV will get its power from a brand-new 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol motor instead of a CNG-supported one, which is also used in the global VW and other Skoda models. This engine can generate two states of tunes: 94bhp and 114bhp. It is expected that the compact SUV will be powered by a more powerful version of this motor. Transmission duties will be undertaken by both an automatic and manual gearbox.

This new compact SUV is anticipated to be priced from Rs 12 lakh for the base variant and Rs 16 lakh for the top variant. Once launched in India, it will compete against the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur.
With a futuristic exterior and interior design, the Skoda Vision X SUV deserves to be considered Skoda’s urban crossover of the future. However, it would be better if the production model of the vehicle gets a CNG option, considering the increasing price of fuel and the serious air pollution in India. This compact SUV will be underpinned by the new MQB A0 IN platform, which is highly localized for the Indian auto market. This allows the Czech automaker to aggressively price it, between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 16 lakh. The Vision X SUV is expected to help Skoda reinforce its position in the teeming compact SUV segment, after the Koraq and the Kodiaq.
