The best-selling hatchbacks in the Indian auto market, the Maruti Alto recently received an update. The exterior and interior design experienced almost no remarkable alterations; nevertheless, the 800cc motor has been updated to conform to the BS-VI emission standards.
Maruti S-Presso, the latest SUV-ish hatchback from the Indian largest automaker, receives its power from an updated BS6 1.0-litre motor, which is borrowed from the Alto K10 with the same power and torque figures of 68 BHP and 90 Nm, respectively. The premium hatchback is equipped with a long list of features and has an impressive performance with a decent fuel mileage as well.

Maruti certainly does not want to discontinue the production of the Maruti Swift, which is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the Indian auto market. As a result, the company has no choice but to update the current engines which power the Swift. The third-gen Maruti Swift is one of the first models in India to become a BS6-engined car.

Maruti Dzire is one of the best-selling compact sedans in the Indian auto market. With a view to preparing for the more stringent standards, and to further enhance the sales number of the vehicle, Maruti Suzuki has given its 1.2-litre petrol motor an upgrade to make it totally compliant with the BS-VI emission standards.

The Maruti Baleno is the first model from the Indian largest auto manufacturer to have its motor updated to comply with the BS-VI emission standards. The Baleno currently keeps under its hood a BS6 1.2-litre Dualjet Dual VVT motor which produces 84 PS and 115 Nm. The Baleno now also offers Maruti Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid Technology as an option.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios was launched in the Indian auto market and has been on sale along with the second-gen Hyundai Grand i10. The powertrain options of the Grand i10 Nios have been carried over from the outgoing model but have been updated to conform to the forthcoming BS-VI emission standards.

Being the rebadged version of the Maruti Baleno, the Toyota Glanza borrows its engine from its donor vehicle. The Glanza is powered by a 1.2-litre Dualjet gasoline burner which comes with Smart Hybrid Technology, which helps it be included in the list of BS6 cars in India.
The Maruti Ertiga is among the most popular MPVs in the Indian auto market. To ensure that the car keeps its popularity, Maruti has introduced the BS-VI version of the Ertiga. The updated version of the 1.5-litre gasoline burner which currently powers the Maruti Ertiga can generate 104 BHP against 138 Nm, the same as before but has now been updated to conform to the new BS-VI emission standards. It also gets Maruti Suzuki’s mild-hybrid (SHVS) technology.

The Maruti XL6 is the brand’s premium MPV offering to the Indian auto market. It is based on the Maruti Ertiga but is a six-seater, offering captain seats in the middle instead of a bench, for a more premium feel. The new MPV gets a BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre gasoline burner with the same power/torque figure. This is the same motor which also powers the Maruti Ertiga.

Being the first offering from the South Korean automaker to the Indian auto market, the Kia Seltos has become one of the most popular compact SUVs in the country. The SUV offers three different engine options: 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre diesel, and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol motor. All of these powerplants comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission standards.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the latest addition to the Jeep Compass lineup in India. It is also the only variant of the Jeep Compass whose engine has been updated to be compliant with the BS-VI emission norms. Currently, the SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine which can deliver 170 PS and 350 Nm of max power and torque respectively, the same as other Compass variants. However, the Trailhawk is the only one to receive BSVI-ready engine yet.

The Mercedes-Benz E200 was among the first vehicles in India to have its engine updated to conform to the BS-VI emission standards. The E200 is currently powered by a 2.0-litre gasoline burner with 197 PS and 300 Nm on tap. Only the petrol versions have been updated to meet the BS6 regulations while the diesel ones have not.
