Earlier this year, Mahindra & Mahindra launched the 2019 Alturas G4 in the Indian auto market. The flagship badass SUV from Mahindra has clocked good sale numbers in India right from day one and becomes a fierce rival of the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner in the same segment. Since the BSVI emissions implementation is all set to kick in, Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of the BSVI-compliant Alturas G4, which has been spotted testing in Chennai recently with a set of new alloy wheels.
According to a set of spy shots, the 2020 Mahindra Alturas is caught with some minimal concealments. The logos have been carefully camouflaged from everywhere, even on the new alloy wheels setup. However, considering the big road presence of the Mahindra SUV, recognizing the Alturas G4 is not a tough job.

The interiors of the new Mahindra Alturas G4 are also seen with high-quality materials, a premium stance with attractive design cues. It is offered with premium Nappa leather seats, 8-way adjustable driver seat, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate controls, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto supports along with a 7-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster.
The current version of the Mahindra Alturas G4 is now available with only one engine option in its heart. The SUV is available in both 2WD and 4WD forms, which get the same 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel motor that puts out 178 BHP of max power at 4,000 rpm and 420 Nm of peak torque at 1,600 – 2,600 rpm. It comes mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission derived from Mercedes-Benz. Mahindra seems unlikely to change the engine specs of the Alturas G4 in the BSVI form. Apart from the engine conforming to the BSVI compliance, other equipment and features on offer with the SUV will remain untouched, too. In fact, the Alturas G4’s engine is already BSVI compliant, so for Mahindra, it’s not a matter of having a BSVI-ready car, it’s about waiting for the availability of BSVI fuel in the country.
