In some markets in North America, the long-wheelbase version of a full-size SUV is called an extended-length SUV. The extra length is utilized to provide additional space for storage or rear passengers.

1 Hyundai Creta

Launched earlier this year with a price range from INR 9.99 lakh to INR 17.2 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the new Hyundai Creta borrows the BS6 motors from the Kia Seltos: a 1.5-litre NA gasoline burner with 115 PS/144 Nm, a 1.5-litre oil burner with 140 PS/242 Nm. The first engine is mated to a 6-speed MT/CVT; the second motor is paired with a 6-speed MT/torque converter; the last one is coupled with 7-speed DCT.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta is equipped with LED headlights, taillights, panoramic sunroof, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports car technologies, wireless charging, electrically-adjusted driver seat and ventilated front seats. Its safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors offered as standard features across all the variants.

2. Maruti Vitara Brezza

Being one of the most popular compact SUVs, the Maruti Vitara Brezza has kept the top position in the sales chart of the segment in many months. The new Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.5-litre gasoline burner which can generate 105 PS against 138 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed MT/4-speed AT. The compact SUV is equipped with dual LED projector headlights with dual-functioning LED DRLs, LED fog lights, LED taillights, auto-dimming IRVMS, a new 7-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, etc. Safety features consist of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors, etc. The Maruti Vitara Brezza competes in the fiercely competitive compact SUV segment against Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet and Toyota Urban Cruiser.

3. Tata Harrier

The Tata Harrier is one of the flagship vehicles of the home-grown automaker in the Indian auto market. The SUV is priced from INR 13.84 lakh to INR 20.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The Harrier receives its power from only a 2.0-litre oil burner which can deliver 170 PS against 350 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed MT/torque converter. The Harrier is replete with a panoramic sunroof, a two-colour alloy rims, auto-dimming IRVMs, electrically-adjusted driver seat. The safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and electronic stability program.
