2020 Hyundai Creta Launched, Costs Same As Old Model

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has finally launched the second-generation Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Even before its launch, the SUV had managed to garner roughly 14,000 pre-orders since bookings opened on 2^nd March 2020. The new Creta has finally been launched in India at a starting price of just Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

There are three engine options available, along with four trim levels for the petrol versions and five for the diesel ones. The SUV is also being offered with automatic gearboxes right from the get-go.

As reported earlier, Hyundai has kept the pricing of their new-gen SUV quite aggressive, making it the strongest contender in the compact SUV space at the moment. The complete price list is provided below.

As for the engines, followers of IndianAuto already know that the 2020 Creta is offered with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol. The 1.5L petrol motor is available with a 6-speed manual as standard and a CVT gearbox as an option. The 1.5L diesel mill comes mated to a 6-speed manual as standard and an optional 6-speed automatic. The 1.4L turbo-petrol can only be bought with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The complete spec sheet is given below.

In the Indian market, the new-gen Creta will compete with Maruti S-Cross, Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier, Renault Captur, Nissan Kicks, and of course, Kia Seltos.
