The BSVI-compliant Mahindra XUV500 will be available in four trims, namely. W5. W7, W9 and W11 (O). The W5 will take the entry-level position which was previously held by W3. Apart from the discontinuation of the base trim W3, Mahindra also put an end to the all-wheel-drive option.

Under the hood, the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor continues to power the Mahindra XUV500. However, this motor is updated to conform to the new norms. Now, the updated version of the earlier engine is equipped with DPF (diesel particulate filter), 2-way oxidation catalyst, and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) as well as a new-gen electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger. Previously, the BSIV version used to put out a maximum power of 153 Bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm. The power specifications are not likely to have increased or decreased in the new version. There is no change to be seen even when it comes to the transmission options. The 2.2-litre mHawk engine will continue to be available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
