Maruti Vitara Brezza Regains Best-Seller Status

The sub-compact SUV segment has recently seen impressive growth in sales. Last month, Maruti Vitara Brezza overtakes Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, regaining the top spot in the segment. In the previous month, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet headed the chart with higher sales figures.

In October, Maruti sold 12,087 units of Maruti Brezza against 9,153 units in September. Maruti Brezza attains a growth of 32 per cent compared to the previous month and an increase of 18 per cent in a year-on-year comparison. Kia Sonet is the newest product from the South Korean car manufacturer. Launched in September, the Sonet received overwhelming responses from the buyers in the first month and outsold other competitors to become the segment-leading model with 9,266 units. Last month, the sales number increased to 11,721 units, marking a growth of 26%. However, it is still behind the Maruti Brezza.

Hyundai Venue comes third with monthly sales of 8,288 units. In its early months, Hyundai’s sub-four-meter SUV successfully stayed ahead of Maruti Brezza in terms of sales. However, as the initial heat fades, Hyundai Venue lost top spot position to other rivals. Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport take the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.

In September, the sub-compact segment also saw the launch of the rebadged Maruti Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser. This model has gained decent sales of around 3,000 units per month. The rebadged Brezza is offered around a similar price range with its donor.
