New Volkswagen Polo GT is approaching its launch date. Alongside the Polo GT, the whole Polo range and the Vento will also receive updates and will be launched on September 4. Recently, the new Volkswagen Polo GT is spotted undisguised for the first time, offering us a glimpse at the upcoming model.

Revised Volkswagen Polo GT will come with some subtle exterior updates

On the current spy pictures, the Polo GT puts on new cherry red exterior paint. While maintaining the majority of the styling from the previous GTI variant, the new Polo GT receives some minor design changes. Though featuring the same honeycomb grille and a similar bumper, this new variant now sports new black underbody spoilers and revised taillights for a better and sportier look. As seen on the spy pictures, the updated Polo GT carries forward the taillight housings from the previous Europe-bound fifth-gen Polo. For the side profile, the 16-inch alloy wheels are finished in grey colour.

BSVI powertrain update for the new Volkswagen Polo will be ready before the emission norms kick in

About the powertrain, by March 2020, the Volkswagen Polo GT is expected to get a new BSVI 1.0-litre TSI petrol motor in place of the existing engine range. Currently, the Volkswagen Polo GT is powered by either a 1.2-litre TSI petrol unit or a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. The former is paired with a 7-speed automatic direct-shift gearbox while the latter comes with a 5-speed manual unit. The diesel unit is more powerful with 110 PS and 250 Nm. On the other hand, the Volkswagen Polo GT has 105 PS and 175 Nm on tap.

There is more to expect about the Polo rather than just powertrain updates and exterior upgrade. It is likely to receive several interior updates with a slew of new fitments. While the India-spec Polo is currently in its fifth generation and on the way to update the offering, the international market has seen the launched of sixth-gen Polo a few days ago. It might take a couple of years before the new-gen Polo is introduced in our market. Currently, Volkswagen has celebrated the tenth year of the Polo in the Indian market.
