Hyundai Grand I10 Nios vs Ford Figo Design

Exterior

The Grand i10 Nios is the representative of all the modern Hyundai cars with an evolutionary appearance, which is the result of many updates throughout its presence in India. On the other hand, while the American auto manufacturer has tried its best to keep the changes to the Ford Figo as minimal as possible; however, the alterations are sufficient to distinguish the two versions from each other.

Front

The front fascia of the new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is a breakthrough from that on the outgoing one with sharp-looking projector headlamps, a wide cascading grille, a sculpted bumper and segment-leading projector fog lamps.

In the meanwhile, the Aston-Martin-Esque styling of the Ford Figo front has been maintained. However, the front now looks sharper; the headlights have been redesigned with a 3D-like housing; a new honeycomb mesh grille has replaced the vertical slat grille; and a sharper bumper has also been equipped on the new version.

Both the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Ford Figo has experienced updates in terms of its front.

Side profile

On the side profile, the Grand i10 Nios gets more European hatchback characteristics with a wide range of updated features like the all-new wider 15-inch dual-tone alloy rims on the top-spec variant, roof rails, shark fin antenna and black C-pillar and chrome car handles. All of these features add to the dynamic look of the vehicle.

The new Ford Figo comes with some minor updates against the previous version like the newly-designed multi-spoke alloy wheels and contrasting black roof.

While the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has got considerable updates in its side profile, the Ford Figo has received minor alterations.

Rear

Coming to the rear, while the Grand i10 Nios has been equipped with a redesigned heavier and thicker bumper along with more stylish wraparound taillights, the Ford Figo’ rear remains almost intact with a dual-colour bumper and redesigned taillights.

Since the exterior design is a matter of personal choice, we would not give any conclusion or recommendation here. Nevertheless, if we still have to choose, we would like to choose the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios since it has received a more remarkable improvement over the previous version than the Ford Figo. Overall, design is a matter of personal taste but if you ask us, the fresh appeal of the Nios helps it win this part of our Hyundai Grand I10 Nios Vs Ford Figo comparison.

The case in the rear of the vehicles is similar to that on the side profile with the Grand i10 Nios receiving much more changes than its competitor.

Interior

Seating layout

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios seating space is a major breakthrough over the previous model, thanks to its greater length and width which offer a more amber rear seat space for the rear passengers. The thinner seats also offer a greater sense of roominess. Adjustable headrest is also offered to add to the comfort of the vehicle.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios interior is a great improvement over the outgoing model in terms of the space.

In the meantime, the Ford Figo provides sufficient legroom, decent under-thigh support, upright backrest. Nevertheless, the rear headroom is restricted, which is a nuisance for the tall passengers. Hence, it's the more practical Grand i10 Nios that wins this part of our Hyundai Grand I10 Nios Vs Ford Figo comparison.

The Ford Figo provides a somewhat limited rear seat space for tall passengers.

Interior Features

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios comes with a dual-tone cabin, which has been carried over from the previous model. The car is packed with a wide array of high-quality features. The most outstanding one is the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and particularly Hyundai’s Blue Link connectivity with the last one being a segment-first feature.

Furthermore, a semi-digital instrument cluster with a dark colour paint scheme and soft-touch materials is also offered. There is small storage space at the centre console for the passengers to store their small things. Additionally, the climate control, cooled glove box, auto cruise and rear AC vents are also provided in the new Grand i10 Nios.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is replete with multiple advanced features including the segment-leading Blue Link connectivity.

Nevertheless, the Ford Figo interior, which gets an all-black paint scheme is, disappointingly, not as modern as the Grand i10 Nios. The new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system does not get the Android Auto and the Apple CarPlay connectivity and of course lacks the Blue Link feature. However, it does get Bluetooth and rear parking camera connectivity along with built-in navigation. The instrument cluster has been redesigned and gets an informative MID but still looks outdated. The rear air conditioner vents are absent in the new Figo.

There are numerous storage spaces inside the cabin for the front passengers, for example, a huge glovebox, a large door pockets, numerous storage places between the seats. Other outstanding interior features include automatic temperature control, an automatic dimming rear-view mirror, etc.

The Ford Figo offers a more amber cabin but with less advanced features.

Safety features

Both of the vehicles can ensure that both the driver and the passengers can enjoy the utmost safety with numerous safety features. The same safety equipment list on the two cars includes dual front airbags ABS with EBD, seatbelt reminders and rear parking sensors, which are all provided as standard features across all the variants.

In this comparison, we are confident to say that the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is the winner, thanks to its more advanced features including the segment-first Hyundai’s Blue Link connectivity borrowed from the Hyundai Venue.

In the meanwhile, the 1.2-litre petrol motor of the Grand i10 Nios can only churn out 83 PS against 113 Nm, far exceeded by its competitor. The Ford Figo is also the only hatchback in India to be offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic. However, in terms of fuel efficiency, the Ford Figo loses in the competition against the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. While the petrol motor of the latter conforms to the BS-VI emission norms, those of the former are only compliant to the BS-IV emission standards.

As regards the diesel unit, the Figo is also offered with a big 1.5-litre oil burner with a great performance of 100 PS against 215 Nm, which far surpassed the Grand i10 Nios. Nevertheless, when it comes to the transmission options, the Ford hatchback does not offer the convenience of an automatic gearbox like its Hyundai rival. In terms of the fuel mileage, the Ford Figo, again, loses in comparison with its competitor. The diesel motors on both of the vehicles fail to adhere to the BS-VI emission regulations, which require both of the auto manufacturers to update the oil burners on the two vehicles once these standards come into effect.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, although gets a less powerful engine, has greater fuel mileage.

In this comparison, both of the two hatchbacks have their own benefits and drawbacks. While the Ford Figo has greater dimensions which translate into a more amber cabin and more powerful engines, it gives in to its rival in fuel efficiency and the transmission options of the oil burner. Therefore, it is totally up to you to choose the most suitable hatchback for yourself.
