2020 Hyundai Creta Petrol and Diesel Variants to Offer More Mileage than Kia Seltos

The first-gen Hyundai Creta remained at the top of the sales charts for a significant time, before it finally had to bow down to the Kia Seltos last year. Things, however, could be headed for a change with the advent of the all-new model next month. While the second-gen SUV would share aplenty with the Seltos, it looks like its diesel model, which will share the engine with its not-so-distant cousin, would offer a higher mileage.

2020 Hyundai Creta will offer better fuel economy than Kia Seltos

As per a recent media report, the diesel version of the 2020 Hyundai Creta will have a mileage of 21.4 kmpl, which is higher than the 20.8 kmpl delivered by the Kia Seltos. Other than having the same diesel engine as the Seltos, it will even have the same 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre turbo-petrol options. The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine will offer 16.8 kmpl, which is 0.3 kmpl higher than what the Seltos 1.5 Petrol offers. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol will also offer 0.3 kmpl of higher mileage by offer 16.8 kmpl.

While not a major difference, the slightly higher fuel efficiency could attract mileage-conscious buyers. The 1.5-litre petrol engine option will output 115hp and 144Nm. It will come with two transmission options - a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol will be mated to 7-speed DCT bit will miss out on a manual transmission. The 1.5-litre diesel engine option will be available with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options.

Underpinning the 2020 Hyundai Creta will be the same platform as the Kia Seltos. In fact, even the features list will be largely similar. What this means is that with same engine options, same architecture and similar features, the only factors that would differentiate the two SUVs will be slightly higher mileage figures for the Creta and distinct aesthetics.
